Your recovery phrase is the only way to restore your wallet. Keep it safe.

Critical Information

  • We cannot recover your wallet. Sora Wallet is self-custody. We never have access to your recovery phrase.
  • If you lose your recovery phrase, your funds are lost forever. There is no "forgot password" or support ticket that can help.
  • Never share your recovery phrase with anyone. Including Sora support. We will never ask for it.

What is a Recovery Phrase?

A recovery phrase (also called seed phrase or mnemonic) is a series of 12 or 24 words that represents your wallet's private key. Anyone with these words can access your wallet and all its funds.

Your recovery phrase was shown to you when you created your wallet. If you didn't write it down, you should do so now from the wallet settings.

How to Backup Your Wallet

    Open Sora Wallet

    Click the extension icon and unlock your wallet.

    Go to Settings

    Look for the gear icon or "Settings" menu.

    View Recovery Phrase

    You'll need to enter your password to reveal it.

    Write it down on paper

    Use pen and paper. Do not store it digitally (no photos, no cloud, no notes app).

    Store it securely

    Keep it in a safe place. Consider making multiple copies stored in different locations.

How to Recover Your Wallet

If you need to restore your wallet on a new device or after reinstalling:

  1. 1.Install Sora Wallet extension
  2. 2.Choose "Import Existing Wallet" instead of creating a new one
  3. 3.Enter your 12 or 24 word recovery phrase exactly as you wrote it
  4. 4.Set a new password for this device
  5. 5.Your wallet and all its accounts will be restored

Common Questions

Can I change my recovery phrase?
No. Your recovery phrase is mathematically linked to your wallet address. To get a new phrase, you would need to create an entirely new wallet and transfer your assets to it.
Can I use my Sora recovery phrase in other wallets?
Yes, if they support Sui and use the same derivation path. Most Sui wallets follow the same standard, so your phrase should work. However, always test with small amounts first.
What if I only remember some of the words?
If you're only missing 1-2 words, recovery may be possible with specialized tools (not provided by us). If you're missing more, recovery is essentially impossible. This is why backing up correctly is so important.

Remember: Sora support will never ask for your recovery phrase. If anyone asks, they are trying to steal your funds.
